Ramshorn Snails

Ramshorn Snail
Ramshorn Snail
Latin Name:
Planorbarius corneus

Common Name:
Ramshorn Snails

Up to 1 ½ inch (3.5 cm)

Suggested Minimum Tank Size:
1 gallon +

Preferred Temperature:

58-80°F (15-27°C)
Special Considerations:
Ramshorn Snails are very easy to keep, they are quite hardy. They make excellent scavengers for Tiny Tanks.
Though less troublesome than the common pond snail, they are very prolific and can overpopulate a small tank very quickly. Ramshorns are not too bad on live aquarium plants, they mainly eat dead plant matter and algae along with left over fish food.

Ramshorns can tolerate a large temperature range, I've even had them overwinter out side, surviving a couple of freezes.

Overall Ramshorn Snails make very good specimens for your tiny tank, just watch for overpopulation.
